State lawmakers honor Utah mothers of the year

SALT LAKE CITY — State lawmakers honored the Utah mother and young mother of the year Friday.

The Utah Association of American Mothers, Inc. named Cynthia Richards, of Orem, as mother of the year, and Kaysville resident Lori Conger as young mother of the year earlier this month.

They were selected after interviews, submitting portfolios and giving three-minute speeches at a luncheon.

“There is absolutely now thank-you this side of eternity we can give to a mother,” said Rep. Brad Daw, R-Orem, as he introduced the women in the House.

In addition to visiting the House and Senate chambers, Richards and Conger were to attend a high tea with first lady Jeanette Herbert at the governor’s mansion.
